The Tropics and Asia in particular have always provoked a special feeling for me and over the coming years I want to capture more of that feeling, using the special light, its humid haziness, its rich vibrant reds, greens and yellows, in a series of images that define, the essence of tropical light, that which portrays what tropical really is, the heat, the sometimes violent storms, the humidity, and on occasions even the getaway coolness of mountainous streams and mountain waterfalls, in amazing light. The galleries here are pretty much split into the tiny world of macro photography, taking on the dragonflies, butterflies and flowers, with the creepy and sometimes crawlies, and then using the far wider lenses, the world of the more open vistas of seascapes and landscapes, with cities, towns and more thrown in. Making any of this mine, is really finding the special light, the backgrounds, the angles that give a whole new twist to each subject matter, it’s a bit more of an abstract view, through using color with focusing to make that work. I really want to experiment with landscape and seascapes, and see what can be done with that special tropical stormy, misty, hot and sticky, Asian light.
